Voting for the MAMA awards 2016

Voting for MAMA awards have already started!! I just thought I'll write a quick blog post on who I'm voting for if anyone is interested. Firstly though, I just want to say that if you want to support your artist, please vote, don't have the mentality of 'other people are voting so I don't need to'. You don't need to make a load of accounts, even if it's just one and you vote everyday it helps. It doesn't take long either. I know MAMA are a bit dodgy since they favour the big 3 and winners are probably pre-selected but it doesn't hurt to vote. (Is it bad how I'm more passionate about these votes than political ones?)

Anyway on to who I'm voting for!

  1. Best new male artist- NCT 127
  2. Best new female artist- Blackpink
  3. Best male group- BTS
  4. Best female group- Twice
  5. Best male artist- Zico
  6. Best female artist- Ailee
  7. Best dance performance solo- Taemin
  8. Best dance performance male group- BTS
  9. Best dance performance female group- Twice
  10. Best vocal performance male solo- Eric Nam
  11. Best vocal performance female solo- Ailee
  12. Best vocal performance group- Mamamoo
  13. Best band performance- Day6
  14. Best rap performance- Zico
  15. Best collaboration- MOBB/ Baekhyun and Suzy (I switch between the two)
  16. Best MV- BTS
  17. Best OST- DOTS
  18. HotelsCombined Artist of the Year- BTS
  19. HotelsCombined Song of the Year- BTS
Being multifandom makes it difficult to choose but BTS are my ultimate bias group so I always go with them. To be honest, some of the categories I just randomly chose because I like the artist or I've heard good things about them.

Lastly, it doesn't matter who you vote for just be respectful to all artists, here's the link to vote: http://mama.mwave.me/vote

Enjoy the rest of your day! :)

P.s MNET better treat BTS and GOT7 extra well to make up for the mess that happened last year. Geez if you want to rig the results fine but at least treat the artists right.

Halal gochujang???

If you are interested in Korean cooking you might've come across the ingredient gochujang, or hot pepper paste. It is used a lot in Korean cooking and after looking up several recipes that mad my mouth water, I had to make some. Gochujang is quite hard to find in the area I live but all it takes is a train ride to London where there are many East Asian supermarkets. However, I decided to check online supermarkets first and after reading the ingredients I discovered that gochujang contained alcohol. Which therefore means it is not halal. I was kinda gutted since I wanted to make my cooking as authentic as possible but instead had to make my own concoction of ketchup and chilli powder as a replacement.

The other day, during my 4 hour break at uni (4 hours is seriously ridiculous) me and friend decided to explore the area around our uni and we came across a Chinese supermarket. They sold gochujang but after checking the ingredients, it wasn't halal. After a little browse around, I came across this:

It's not exactly 'gochujang' but the description was pretty similar. As you can see from the ingredients, no alcohol! I bought a jar and used it the other day to make ramen. Be warned, this stuff is SUPER salty so make sure you adjust your recipe so you don't increase someone's risk of kidney stones like I did. I can't compare the taste but the texture and consistency looks similar to gochujang except this sauce isn't as smooth.

Overall I'm happy with this alternative and will use this more in the future.

Happy cooking! :)

p.s BTS got their 1st win for blood, sweat and tears, wooooo!!

5 days in and already behind

I've just completed my 2nd week of uni and I feel like I'm already slipping. Don't get me wrong, I made friends and I enjoy my lectures but it's the part afterwards: the independent study. After my first day I was on it, I typed up my notes, I had motivation and enthusiasm. But, after that I'm not sure what happened, but I stopped. Now I'm in a position where I have a load of notes to type up in order to catch up. What I think I am struggling with the most is that we aren't told clearly 'this is what you need to do'. It's up to the individual to look up on their online uni account to see what work is available. Even though I do do this I find it a bit tricky to navigate my way around the site, it's a bit messy and confusing. I guess I just need to play around with it and learn to be more independent.

We have already been our first set of coursework which involves writing a portfolio on our start o university. It took me a week to realise what this portfolio is meant to be on and that we should've already started it. To be honest, I still don't really know what a portfolio is, like a collection of your work, I guess?

On Wednesday we had 1 of 4 of our kitchen practicals. We were in groups of 3 and in 2.5 hours we were assigned a recipe, cooked and then completed a sensory analysis on everyone's dishes. The recipe booklet and instructions were uploaded online but I didn't know till the day before because it wasn't stated clearly and it honestly took me about 20 mins to find because I had to open and close so many folders. Once I found it, I read through the booklet at one of the tasks said we had to work out the nutritional content...except we haven't been taught that. So I was in a small panic. The next day, I clarified this with the teacher and told me it's fine, just fill it in after you have been taught it. But know I realised that she didn't mention this to the whole class after our discussion so I'm guessing people are still confused, or maybe it's just me.

I've been busy and stressed with trying to sort out finances and DBS check stuff and I guess a part of me took it as an excuse to slack. I need to get that motivation back quickly.

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

BTS WINGS (IT'S TOO MUCH)

Just a heads up, there will probably be a lot of cap in this post.

Ahem.

WATCH BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS:

I thought Jungkook was joking when he said they'll be a more mature side to the group since they are all human memes but I WAS WRONG AND UNPREPARED. Their outfits, the dance moves the lyrics were so....sensual. I actually can't, I'm blushing. You know it's intense when it makes a brown person blush.

Anyway lets talk about the graphics and editing. I loved the whole art museum theme and how we saw it throughout. The members where in the museum itself and within the paintings. From the set to the props, everything was so detailed and merged together well.

The song- LOVE LOVE LOVE It's current and the vocals are amazing. All the vocalists improved and when they were singing it was angelic, I mean those HIGH NOTES!!! Honestly, the one thing that I could complain about is Jin's lines, or lack of. He did have a lot of screen time though which I guess helps balance it out but if his one line was at least a solo line and not shared with Jimin then I think it would've been better. I saw a mini clip on twitter of them practising the dance at that part and Jin was at the front which makes me happy since he isn't at the back the whole time. In term of the rappers, THIS IS J-HOPE'S ERA. I love how he got more lines and had a chance to shine like the sunshine he is. Even though RM didn't get many lines (I felt this was ok since he usually has larger parts in other songs and he narrated) he still managed to kill me. I don't know what it is but the way he says chocolate URGH. I was caught off guard because me and my sister were freaking and it suddenly got quiet. Usually it annoys me when this happens but I felt like they made it flow and when the music came back it was smooth. As for Suga, his voice is amazing so he could say anything and I would love it. This isn't about his rap but I really liked his jacket/shirt thing. I don't know if it's just me but I get a bollywood/arabic vibe from it. There's probably a bollywood song that sounds similar but I can't place it. Overall the song is super catchy and it has been stuck in my head since it came out. I have trouble sleeping because the tune is in my head and I feel like dancing.

The album- I can honestly say I loved EVERY song in this album. It was nice how each member had a solo track each but my favourites were MAMA by J-hope and Awake by Jin. I like MAMA because I like upbeat songs and I think the style suited J-hope well. Even though I'm not a huge fan of slow song and ballads I really like Awake, maybe because of Jin's voice? The song is just relaxing to me. Regardless, all the solo tracks were all beautiful. Even without knowing about the meaningful lyrics, you could still feel the emotion from every single member. Just a point worth mentioning, who knew V could sing that high? Also in the album were the tracks Cypher pt 4 which featured the rappers and Lost which involved the vocalists. Personally, I liked Lost a *tiny* bit more. However, I liked how Cypher pt 4 was something unexpected since it didn't sound like the other parts but the lyrics were still SAVAGE. 2!3! has such cute lyrics. My favourite song from the album is Blood, Sweat and Tears  and in joint 2nd would be Am I Wrong and 21st century girl. I loved the intro and interlude (damn this means there's a second part) but out of the two, the intro is my favourite since J-hope gets to showcase all his talents and his wish came true, which was to do the intro. I think this album really shows how talented each and every member is and how versatile BTS are as a whole. It's a different sound but they still KILLED IT. Perfect way to start a new era.

I'm glad Bighit ended their contract with 1thek. It makes it easier for fans to increase views and helped us to break records! Nice try with the 'break wings' project antis but didn't really work though, did it? A for effort though. Here is a list: https://www.reddit.com/r/bangtan/comments/56u39p/bts_wings_record_breakers_will_be_updated_as_more/

One of the things that makes me really happy is that WINGS was #1 in several countries, including the UK! That's right, the land that seems to be unknown to kpop idols/agencies had a kpop album as #1 on iTunes. Hopefully this increases the chance of Kcon London. Also, I love the idea that people might be browsing iTunes or something and they see Wings, get curious so they check it out and they become a fan. It's amazing how big of a fandom we are now.

I'm SO EXCITED for this whole promotion period and how Bighit and BTS will spoil us. I'm hoping for lots variety shows too, as long as the boys are healthy though. Health comes first.

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

Because I'm a bit weird I'm going to put this here again (just hit 11 million views!):

How I fell into the K-hole

It was a normal day, I was just going through my subscription box several because I was putting off doing revision. Then I am across THIS video. The thumbnail included 3 youtubers the I was subscribed to and I was looking to waste time so I clicked the video.

BTS dope was the first video they showed and my reaction was basically the same as Lilly's. I didn't even wait to finish the video and searched it up myself and watched the whole thing myself. I've heard of kpop before but never looked it up until then I got sucked in so fast. I love upbeat music, rap and dancing so I was IN. I watched Dope 10 times that day and when I was telling my sister she thought I was crazy (until I showed her the video and slowly sucked her in too). I was so hyped you won't believe I showed my sisters, mum, cousins, aunts and all my friends. I was like THE WORLD MUST KNOW. I've never fangirled over an artist or group so I was kind of freaking out because I wasn't the type but after a month or so of denial and watching every bangtan bomb, mv and other videos, I finally accepted that I had surpassed fangirl status and I was now trash.

In terms of biases, I don't really have one. When I first watched Dope and Jungkook appeared I was like WOAH but then I watched War of hormone and I was bias wrecked by V before I even knew what bias wrecking was. After getting to know their personality and what dorks they are I couldn't pick a favourite. I applaud the people who can stay loyal to one member, jut remember to appreciate all the members. If you struggle, you could be like my friend and have a new bias every week. They are all bias wreckers of my non-existent bias list.

After a few months, I started branching out to other groups like EXO and now the list of groups I stan continues to grow. 'EXO next door' was what actually lead me to kdramas such as 'Descendants of the sun'. Honestly, my sister is more into kdramas than I am since I don't have the time to watch them. However, when V and Minho's drama, 'Hwarang', comes out I will make my life about it.

Before I even got into kpop I had heard a lot of things about k-beauty from youtubers like Bubzbeauty and Michelle Phan but that obsession also took off due to how cute the packaging was and how innovative they were. I'm actually looking more into this as I suffer from acne and hyperigmentation and am slowly incorporating Korean skincare in my routine. I recommend watching Gothamista and Joankeem if you want to know more.

Lastly, the food. If you like cooking, Maangchi is the lady you need. That's literally all I have to say because you need to make it/eat it to know. One thing that bugs me though is that gochujang is used a lot in Korean cooking and I'm still in search for a halal one, if it exists.

I just want to finish off by sharing the video that started it all. I can't believe this was at 24 million views when I first watched this and now it's nearly at 100 million.

I've only been into this for a year but I don't think I'm leaving anytime soon...

Induction at uni

Yesterday was my induction at uni and I am still tired. I had to be there for 11 and left to walk to the train station at about 9 since it takes 30 mins and I wanted to get there earlier to find the room. I love it when it gets cold because I can wear my winter coat (I love my winter coat). I put it on and headed out and stupid me didn't think about changing into my winter boots. I was wearing ballet pumps and it was only spitting when I left but it was all out POURING 5 mins into my walk so by the time I got to the station I was soaked and dripping. My coat isn't waterproof but thank god it has a water poof. Oh and I got splashed by a car.

I got the fast train which meant I got there 45 mins early. I spoke to some girls who were on the same course as me and we stuck together for the rest of the day. When it was time for our talk, there were many people in yellow shirts at the end of each corridor so asked them for directions and we still ended up in the wrong talk. Luckily the main talk specific to dietetics was after lunch so we were in the right place at the end.

Lessons start on Monday and the day is 9am to 6pm. I feel tired just thinking about it. Honestly, I'm not as eager as I thought I would be but maybe I just need to start properly and see how things go.

I got free pasta and a drink though so that was good.

Starting university

So tomorrow I'll be starting university. I'm kinda nervous but also excited. No one in my family has gone to uni so I feel like this is a big deal. Honestly, I've been bored at home and since I have no job either, I don't really have anything to do. Hence why I started this blog. I have been applying for jobs but haven't been successful yet. I heard yesterday that the place I did Christmas temp work at is hiring so I might take another shot their.

Anyway, back to university. I'm one those people who don't like massive changes but I am working on it. I'm trying to look at this as way to experience new things and that I'm closer to becoming a dietitian (I'm studying dietetics and nutrition at London Metropolitan). I'm actually commuting to uni instead of living there. To be honest, I live about 40 mins away and If I can save money to spend on other things like driving lessons or travelling, I'd rather do that. I only have to go in 3 times a week so hopefully it won't be that bad and the public transport in London is pretty good. What I worry the most about uni is being in the right rooms for my lectures and stuff, I hate being late and then having to draw attention when I enter. It makes me cringe so bad.

Like I said, no one in my family has gone to uni before so I have little idea what to expect. I couldn't really find anything online so I'm planning to blog more about uni for other muslim girls like me.

I HATED A levels so much, they were the worst 2 years of my life so I'm glad that thy are over. Those 2 years really took out the motivation I had during GCSE's and I'm hoping uni will restore it. I might write a post about my sixth form experience. Anyway, I'm extremely lucky to be on the course I want to be even with lower grades than they wanted so as soon as I step foot in the uni, I rally need to get my act together.

Enjoy the rest of your day :)

TOO MANY COMEBACKS

I'd like to take this moment to pray for kpop fans that support multiple groups like I do because October might just be the death of us.

GOT7

I was just watching the last 20 minutes or so of GOT7's live premiere thing on vlive and I thought they were showing the teaser at the end...BUT THEN IT CARRIED ON. I was caught so off guard, I didn't realise they were going to show us the whole mv before 12AM KST. It was so beautiful. Loved everything about it. (Youngjae's high note though, waaaaa)

MONSTA X

I've discovered Monsta x a few months ago and my favourite song by them would Hero. This is my first Monsta x comeback so I'm excited!! I wouldn't count myself as part of the fandom because I have this weird thing where I need to know the members names first. I don't know why but yeah. Their comeback is on 4th October 12AM KST I believe which is 3rd in England so my sister gets a nice birthday present.

BTS

Before you read further, watch the comeback trailer first. Back? It was AMAZING right? I'm so proud of Jhope HE KILLED IT (and armys). Singing, dancing and rapping WOW. He has more talent in his little finger than I do in my whole body. BTS are coming back on October 10th and I can't wait!! I swear every comeback I think 'how are they going to do better than their last one?' but they always do.

I also hear Blackpink, NCT, Shinee as well as other groups are coming back in October too. I don't know if I can survive but I do know October will be a month of great music.

On a side note, there is no need for all the hate towards other groups. Spend that energy supporting your faves, not (attempting) to drag other groups and fandoms down because frankly, it reflects bad onto you, your fandom and the artists. I'm sure if the members read some of the comments I've read on twitter, they would feel so much shame knowing you consider yourself as part of their fandom. Didn't really want to end this blog post on a bad note but the issue has really been bugging me. In the words of Shrek 'better out than in I always say'. I don't why I just quoted Shrek but I should go because I need some food, you should get some as well.

KPOP FIGHTING!!!

Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 palette

I think everyone has the one thing they look forward to when they do makeup. Mine is eye makeup. I asked for this palette as an Eid present since I had 2 Makeup Revolution single eyeshadows which I loved so it would be great to have an eyeshadow palette with the same quality (that's what I thought anyway). This palette has 12 shades and said to be a dupe of the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. I can't comment on the quality because I don't own both palettes but from comparing pictures, the shades are very similar. They are even in the same order.

My opinion- Not a fan. I had such high hope since I loved the single shadows so much but this didn't reach my expectations. The mattes are chalky and the shimmers are like chunky glitters. But then again for the price of £4 maybe my expectations were too high. They swatched ok on my arm but when applied to my eye they didn't blend properly and there was SO MUCH fall out (hence my messy palette). I've tried this with and without primer and also tried spraying my brush with setting spray but I just can't make it work. As you can see, the paler shades are patchy but the overall pigmentation of the shadows are ok but some shades don't show up on my brown skin.

When I'm really unhappy with a product, I email the company to let them know. This way it might help them make improvements in their products. Normally I will get a nice response back and some companies have offered me refunds. However, I wouldn't say this about the response I got from TAM beauty (which owns makeup revolution, I think, or something like that).

The reply seems so informal and gives me the impression they don't care. They didn't address me and there isn't even any full stops, but well done on the '-'. I feel like the might as well emailed me 'soz can't do anything now you used it'.

Pros:

  • cheap
  • nice range of colours
Cons:
  • chalky mattes
  • chunky shimmers
  • hard to blend
  • wear off after a few hours, with or without primer
  • no mirror
  • comes with sponge applicator which hardly anyone uses
  • not that pigmented
  • strong talc smell

Anyway, no surprises I wouldn't buy this again and wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I'm really hoping I got a dodgy palette because how can the single shadows be so good but the palette is bad???

Rimmel moisture renew lipstick (As you want Victoria and Dark knight water-oops)

As well as face masks, I have a slight obsession with lipsticks too. These are my favourite lipsticks out of all the ones I own so I thought I would share them with you.

I have two shades: As you want Victoria and Dark knight water-oops (the names are so unnecessarily long). These are £6.49 from Superdrug and Boots which I think is a decent price for the quality and quantity compared to other lipsticks.

As you want Victoria (top) and Dark knight water-oops (bottom)

My opinions: These lipsticks glide on so smoothly onto the lips and leave your lips feel super moisturised. In fact they are so buttery that you can get a bit carried away and cause your hand to slip. However, the colour does have a tendency to cling to dry patches. I also want to mention these have a very faint smell but it doesn't linger. Since these aren't matte, they aren't very long lasting but do leave a subtle stain to the lips. As you can see from the picture below, some colour still remains after I tried to wipe it off with a tissue.

Pros:
  • pigmented
  • moisturising
  • affordable
  • has a range of shades
  • leaves a stain
  • scent doesn't linger
Cons:
  • not long lasting
I would definitely buy this again in other shades and recommend this to others.

Pimark 3D mask

So I was in Primark the other day and spotted THIS. I bought it straight away because 1) I love sheet masks and 2) it was only 80p!

This mask reminds a lot of the Tony Moly mask (review here). The smell is quite similar and since the Primark one is manufactured in South Korea they might have the same manufacturers or something like that.

My opinion: The best thing about this mask is that it's not just your average sheet mask, it has an extra extension for your neck. I feel like the neck get neglected a lot so it's nice that you can treat our face and neck at the same time. Like the Tony Moly mask, the fitting wasn't that good. the eye area was fine but the mouth whole was too small (maybe I just have big lips?). This was well saturated in essence but it also meant the mask had a tendency to slip off my face. I suggesting lying down when using this mask. There was no sticky residue and my skin felt nourished.

Pros:

  • soothes skin
  • cheap
  • skin feels tighter
  • skin is brighter and moisturised
  • skin is left feeling soft
  • nice smell
  • has extra neck mask
Cons:
  • doesn't sit on face well
I would definitely by this mask again (still can't believe it's only 80p!)

Beauty

Ever since I was young, I never really cared what others thought of my appearance. I was happy to leave my house with my dark circles, blemishes and scars on show. I had good self esteem. But for the past few months I've started to wonder if I was considered beautiful. Of course looks aren't everything and I fully stand by that statement but after hearing the same comments again and again it does bruise your self esteem.

Living in multicultural England, there isn't really a set beauty standard since there are there are all sorts of people. It's when you go to countries like Bangladesh, which I stayed for a whole month, is when you see how look seem to be everything for them.

'Don't you eat?', 'isn't there any food in England?' 'Why do you diet?', 'what's that on your forehead?' 'Why do you have so many spots?' 'Have you been to the doctors to get your face checked?' This is just a few examples of comments I received while a way. People would grab my wrist telling me I should eat more. People would stare at my face. People would maje comments about my appearance before they even said hello to me. While there I wanted to get a few dresses tailored and the tailor constantly complained that I was too skinny. Your job is too tailor clothes to fit people better. I can't change my body to fit the dress so you fix the dress to fit me. All this behaviour is considered 'ok' in Bangladesh though. Like I said earlier, I have good self esteem but hearing it repeatedly gets to your head. When I came back from Bangladesh for a week I was stuffing my face desperately trying to put on weight 'I'm too skinny', 'I need to eat'. A few days later it hit me. I'm happy with the way I looked. I was happy before I went away, why am I doing this? I'll admit I don't have the best diet but I eat proper meals, I just have a high metabolism and I don't put weight on easily. I'm that annoying friend. I don't diet or restrict myself and as I'm happy and healthy who cares if I'm skinny.

Another thing I want to talk about is skin color which is major is Asia. Pale=beautiful, dark=ugly. I'm on the darker side of the spectrum so people said I didn't look like I'm from Bangladesh because I look dead (skinny) and I'm dark. 'You wouldn't be able to tell she's from abroad unless she opened her mouth'. THIS annoys me the most. You can't choose your skin colour. Yes you can tan or lighten your skin but at the end of the day we are judged so heavily on something we can't even control. It's bad enough getting rascist remarks from outside your race but to have people within your race insulting you because of your skin colour? Really? WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM. We should be coming together not moving apart.

Saying all this, what hurts me most is when your own family join in. My aunt would say I'm from the house that doesn't eat, I'm a stick, I'm a giraffe (being 5foot 5 is considered being giant amongst Bengali's). I'm writing this after having an argument with my mum. She told me I should have worn foundation when we went out yesterday. After wearing foundation three times in one week, when usually I go months without it, I wanted to give my skin a rest and just wore powder. But to my mum I looked ugly and should have asked my aunt for foundation. I told her it's not good to share makeup because of bacteria which she responded with 'you would benefit since you would look better it's the other people that will have there stuff contaminated with bacteria'. It made me feel like I was some sort of disease. I was contagious and I shouldn't go near people. I was told I waste money on all this make up that I don't use. But the thing is I do, when I FEEL like it, not for others.  The problem amongst Bengali's is that they care too much what others think. I love makeup but it's no fun if I'm forced to wear it because it's not my choice, it's a chore. After some back and fourth, I made a comment about my mum's cake face and she replied saying 'that's not a nice way of talking to your mum' but calling your daughter ugly isn't very nice either. If your a mum please don't make your child think they are ugly, if they have insecurities about things they should be comfortable to share it with and get support back. My mum suffered from acne herself and to hear her say something like that to me really, really hurts.

I'm sorry if this was a bit all over the place but I'm writing this in my bathroom while crying on and off. I just wanted to end it saying you are beautiful. We all have our weak days were our insecurities take over, I'm having one right now, but at the end of the day you're still beautiful. Everyone has things they would change about themselves but you have to make sure it is for yourself and not for others. As long as you are safe, happy and healthy, the rest can piss off.

Tony moly I'm real seaweed sheet mask

To be honest, I have a slight obsession with face masks. Sheet, clay, peeling any and all types. My love for kpop eventually led me to look more into Korean cosmetics and these sheet masks were the first things I tried. I've tried the tea tree one first but today I will be reviewing the purifying seaweed one.

If you are not familiar with sheet masks, they are basically cotton or gel sheets soaked in essense that you apply to your face. The back of this one shows you picture instructions of the application process.

Ingredients- If you zoom in on the picture below I think you can *just* about make out the ingredients. But the main thing I want to say is that it's alcohol free, yay! As a muslim I don't really like using products with alcohol and I try to avoid it if I can, especially since I have sensitive skin too.

My opinion- The sheet mask itself is very saturated in the essence and there is plenty extra which I apply over the rest of my body. The sheet mask however is very delicate and it is very likely you could rip it. The fit also isn't the best since eye holes don't rest properly on my face and the mouth hole is too small. But, once I apply it to my face it feel so cool and refreshing, it instantly feels better. The instructions say leave for 20-30 mins and then pat in the remaining essence but honestly, I leave on my face till the sheet is dry. Sheet masks are gentle compared to other masks so you can get away with wearing them longer. The mask does leave a slight sticky feeling on the face, hence why I only use this sheet mask at night. The next morning it is still sticky but this is gone when I wash my face. THIS is when you see the results. My skin is much smoother since tiny bumps on my face are gone, red spots are reduced in size and redness and overall my face feels cleaner and brighter.

Pros:
  • Affordable
  • Nice smell
  • Well saturated with plenty of extra essence
  •  Alcohol free
  • Feels cool and refreshing
  • Face feels smoother
Cons:
  • Leaves sticky feeling
  • Delicate sheet mask that could easily rip
  • Sheet mask doesn't fit well
Overall, I would but this product again (I already have) and I would recommend it to others.

2-in-1 facial steam and rosemary rinse

This is for the lazy people like me that want to take care of their hair and skin and can 'sometimes' be a bit lazy. This a great 2-in-1 DIY that treats your hair and skin. We have a massive rosemary bush in a garden so we like to use this in different ways, there's only so much rosemary you can eat.

For the facial steam:

  1.  Fill a kettle with water and boil
  2.  Pour into a heatproof bowl and add rosemary leaves, the more the better. (The day I took the photo above it was raining so ran quickly grabbed a handful and legged it back inside. So, if you do this, use more rosemary than I did)
  3.  Steam your face by putting your face over the bowl and covering your head and the bowl with a towel so the steam doesn't escape
Steaming your face is great way of opening up your pores to get rid of all the dirt. It's also great if you suffer from blackheads and whiteheads and makes them easier to extract. I personally like to follow up with a clap mask or a homemade one to help the extraction process. Adding the rosemary will help you relax and de-stress as well as add a nice aromatherapy quality.

For the rinse:
  1.  Pour the water in the bowl into a jug, so it is easier to pour. You would want to put it through a sieve while doing this so it catches the rosemary leaves. Use a spoon to squeeze the leaves for anymore goodness left in them
  2.  Take a shower/ wash your hair as normal
  3.  Just before you are about to get out, you want to pour the rosemary solution over your hair. There is no need to rinse this out since it leaves no residue behind.
This leaves my hair soft and shiny (I even skip conditioner when I use this). Rosemary is not only good for your hair but also your scalp. My scalp is less itchy and if you suffer from mild dandruff from time to time like I do, that will be taken care of too.

Please let me know if you tried this and how you got on, would love to know :)

Reflection, mama and awake

I just need to start off my saying that these short films are BEAUTIFUL. The editing, the acting, music every single detail of these are so well thought out and that in itself deserve many awards WELL DONE BIGHIT WOOOO (*violently applauds*). After watching all of the members individual short films, I have to say Jin's is my favourite. I feel like it pieces everything together and something finally makes sense. I've read some theories previously which helped me come up with my own. I think I mentioned before that these short films were based on the book Demian. (If you are like me and haven't read the book, here is a good website to check out http://www.sparknotes.com/lit/demian/ ) The theory that I had in mind was that Jin was looking back at his youth and that the other six members were him and portrayed different parts and sscenarios of his life. When you refer to the book, it talks about how Demian is Sinclair's alterego that helps guide him through his youth, the good and the bad. Jin= Sinclair, Demian= the other members. There are many theories out their but I think i agree with this one the most https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0y_ddj3-SlA

I don't why but I feel like this is the end of something, don't what though. I'm probably just emotional because bight like to play with ARMY's emotions.

Mama: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu82g0vyyTY (this one has my favourite music out of all the sort films)

P.S JIN'S VOICE IS SO BEAUTIFUL

Happy Eid!!!

So Eid was yesterday (12th september) and I hope everyone who celebrated had a lovely time. For me, Eid isn't Eid unless you have experienced at least one food coma. I probably had two. We all got dressed up and met up with family, ate, gave out presents, played games and ate (again). I made chinese dumplings just switch things up from the usual fried food we had. I would attach a picture but they look awful (taste good though). As for money, I just asked for money since I'm a broke person learning how to drive without a job and I'm going to start uni in a few weeks. NEED A JOB ASAP. Me and my sister made a pinata which we filled with chocolate. My mum was also trying to convince me to put boroy in it (she has to make evetrything bengali I swear). Overall it was a great day! :)

Bighit just keep trolling

Originally I thought there would be 4 teasers since there are 4 circles at the end of each teaser. 1st circle= Sugakookie, 2nd= Jihope, 3rd= Vmon and the last one Jin. V's was uploaded yesterday and included links to RM so assumed Jin would be today BUUUUUUUUT it was actually Suga and his circle merged with Jimin's even though he had been paired with Jungkook through most of hyyh era??? I thought things were starting to make sense but now I'm even more confused -_-

First love:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VPcnJ9oJ-k

At this point I think there will be 7 short films, one for each member, but I also hope there will be an 8th including all of the members.

BIGHIT WHAT ARE YOU DOING???

So Bighit have been releasing short films as a form of teasers for the upcoming release of BTS' new album which is expected to drop sometime before the end of 2016. For the past 2 days they have been releasing the teasers at 12am KST which is 4pm in England. BUT BIGHIT DECIDED NOT TO DO THIS TODAY AND LEFT US HANGING. BIGHIT WHY DO YOU DO THIS?????? On a positive note the production of these are AMAZING and the amount effort put in by everyone involved really shows. If you are familiar with BTS you would know about the ongoing storyline between all the mv's and these teasers are a continuation of it. I'm too dumb to figure it out and reading all the theories hurts my head but I applaud the ARMY's that put in the research to put together a theory. Knowing Bighit we will probably never find out the answers but I can't wait for the album to be released.

While we wait feel free to check out the short films:

Rire lip powder in sugar rose

Today, I'm going to be reviewing the RiRe lip powder. This is a pigmented powder that melts to a liquid on contact with your lips and dries to a matte finish. I have the shade sugar rose. I bought mine from ebay for £6.10 from the seller f2plus1.

Packaging- Comes in a sleek box that has the shade displayed on top. Cute and small with a secure lid. The inside is designed to make the application less messy and it has a typical lip gloss applicator. The lid is secure and i would say it is good for travelling. As you can see it's a powder but in the swatch lower down you can see it's a liquid.

Swatch- the quality of my photos are TERRIBLE but if you're interested here's a swatch of the shade sugar rose. I would say it's a coral-pink colour. Just a note, the colour is warmer than it is in the picture.

Sugar rose
My thoughts- I really like it! It's cool and unique as you can see it transform into a liquid from a powder before your eyes. The colour isn't too bright but is buildable to give a brighter shade. The application can be slightly patchy but can be smoothed out for an even finish. i don't mind the applicator attached to the lid but it is a bit short and I have seen a few youtubers complain about this. It's slightly sticky when you first apply it but once it has dried, it gives a nice matte finish that isn't drying (even on my lips which are as dry as the Sahara desert). It lasts for a good few hours but I wouldn't call it long lasing (the product doesn't claim to be anyway).

PROS
  • buildable
  • matte but not drying
  • fun and unique
  • travel friendly
  • transfer-proof
CONS
  • slightly patchy
  • short applicator
Overall, I would recommend this product to others and I am happy with my purchase.

Welcome!!

Honestly, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with this blog. What I do know is that it's going to be a mish-mash of different things I like. Some posts will be beauty related, others about kpop and some just about what is currently going on in my life. People might read this, people might not but this is just a space for me to share my thoughts and opinions. Either way, I hope you enjoy your stay here.
